Greetings Brothers of the Illustrious Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.,
we are pleased to announce Eta Nu Nu’s inaugural Omega Book Club, April 2025. This is a long overdue and much needed initiative that aligns with the fraternity’s second cardinal principal, Scholarship. The purpose of the Omega Book Club is to facilitate dialogue about the fraternity’s history, discuss topics that have a direct bearing on the world generally, and the Black community specifically as well as provide a space for meaningful fellowship among Brothers of different eras. At no time in recent history has scholarship been more important. We must refine our definition of scholarship by disseminating knowledge and wisdom to our posterities, thus, creating a new intelligentsia.
The Omega Book Club aims to enhance individual reading experiences, improve social skills and community connections, expand the reader’s horizon, increase accountability, and will motivate readers to become life-long learners. The brothers of the Eta Nu Nu chapter are honored to trailblaze this remarkable endeavor. It is our vision; this endeavor will eventually become a nationally mandated program and serve as the template for all the chapters in our beloved fraternity.
The first book we will read is With Faith in God’s and Hearts and Mind. During the first session, the Omega Book Club will discuss the introduction and chapter one. Below, you will find a draft agenda.
I. Light refreshments and a brother-wellness check
II. Prayer
III. Chapter(s) In-depth discussion (what was applicable about the chapter?)
IV. Closing remarks and announcements
V. Prayer
The agenda is not inflexible, and therefore, is subject to change. It is our opinion, that while the illustrious Omega Psi Phi Fraternity places a strong emphasis on Manhood, Perseverance, and Uplift, Scholarship is given short shrift. Social injustice, equitable housing, education and economic disparities, and a lack of political representation are issues that are not featured prominently in the fraternity’s publications or meetings, neither locally, nationally nor internationally. What are we doing to combat these 21st century lingering and besetting issues? we will leave you with this…” Will our fraternity dissolve because we were not involved?” We pray not!
In the Supreme Basilus’ Service,
Brother Dr. DeShannon C. Butler, Sr., M. Ed., Th. D.

Eta Nu Nu has committed over $500,000 in scholarships to deserving students
Our Chapter recently donated $100,000 to I Know I Can. This is the largest multi-year commitment to the Founders' Scholarship program in their organization's history and will provide multiple students with funds to go to the HBCU of their dreams.
